I got to draw an official Star Trek comic about my friend Amy Rose who escaped from a cult who taught her that Star Trek was real.
2019 is a big year for the public domain!
For the first time in twenty years, a bounty of new works are being added to the public domain so that anyone can watch, read, listen to, remix, reuse and share them just like you would a fairy tale character or a Shakespeare play!
I love artists being compensated for their work, but I also love the public domain! So to celebrate, I’m choosing to skip the hundred-years-or-so wait and release some of my own work into the public domain.
Here’s my first Public Domain Drop! All of the characters I created for Frank: The Comic! You can use them however you want, as long as you don’t mention LiveJournal or their mascot.
How many of these am I going to do? I don’t know! It all depends on if interesting things come out of it!
It’s been officially announced!
My middle-grade graphic novel Student Ambassador will be published by @ironcircuscomics and illustrated by Mexico’s 2017 National Young Graphic Novelist Award-winner @axureneas!! It will hopefully lead to a whole series!
This is a book I’ve been trying to get off the ground in one way or another since 1997. when I was a kid ambassador to Australia. Reality was a really nice package tour, but this book is the global adventure story I’d wished it had been.
I don’t know what was more exciting! The letter I got in 1996, which told me I was gonna be a student ambassador, or the e-mail I got earlier this year that told me this dream project inspired by it was going to happen!

Happy Hangeul Day!
The most up-to-date version of this is here, but this one’s at half a million notes!

I like to think that the concept of innovative art only really reached its peak when the internet came along. I mean, there were people drawing on cave walls and writing with quill feathers and clattering on typewriters a little before that, but it was when the world wide web came to surface that the way we processed media truly changed. As a technology obsessed, sugar gargling millennial, I couldn’t possibly define myself today without a sweet, sweet machine able to give me immediate access to the art form of choice: podcasts.
But let’s, for one very terrifying minute, imagine what it would be like if the internet was plucked and whatever phone, tablet, or laptop you were reading this from was obsolete. Hell, I’m entirely obsolete. Your collection of cat photos on Facebook, your favorite recipes on Pinterest, your favorite Let’s Play channels-just slipped out of your fingers because seven thieves with seven keys to the internet had something else in mind.
This is the general premise of Ryan Estrada’s first audio drama, the nine episode long Big Data. In this crime caper comedy, the entire world gets thrown into a frenzy when the ultimate source of information and privacy is taken away and we all get to know these thieves personally and decipher why they committed their crime before the internet is gone for good. Hilarity ensues.
I made another music video!
Mutiny, Fluently.
This is another track from my upcoming software pirate musical, this time by the amazing Conor Doran (lyrics by me!)
I won the Busan 24 Hour Film Festival!
In July 2017, in Busan South Korea, seven teams worked from 7pm Friday to 7pm Saturday to make films including the following elements: (a) a donut (b). An antiques collector and politician named Mariella L Alfarsi. © the words “tell me what you saw, for her sake.” This was the winning film. It is real weird.

TIM’ROUS BEASTIE IS NOW LIVE ON KICKSTARTER!

Featuring fantasy, urban fantasy, and sci-fi, Tim'rous Beastie aims to explore the potential of stories told from a scale that, while still very human, makes even the mundane aspects of life seem gigantic.

This pre-order event will determine the bonuses of our authors. Pre-ordering Tim'rous Beastie on Kickstarter directly benefits the creators and the work you love! So please, back us now if you’re able, and reblog this post to help spread the word!
@racheldukes and I made a comic for this book! It has the most vicious ratio of adorable and disturbing of anything I’ve ever made. I’m super proud of how it turned out!
