There has been many a cry of ‘where’s the dang movie?’ lately.
The fact that it keeps getting delayed is exactly why I always try to get projects done under such ridiculous deadlines. As soon as the deadline is over, life gets in the way. And oh, have I done a lot of living since January first. Some good, some bad. (Though life is always good, even when bad happens)
The most recent was my home invasion. Someone broke into my house while I was sleeping and stole my computer. The one I was using to make the movie. Most of my work is thankfully backed up, I only lost one scene. But it will at least be a few more days until my replacement computer arrives in Panama. There have been so many minor program crashes and file corruptions that were mostly small annoyances, but added up to a “two steps forward, one step back” productivity, and any enjoyment I got out of compositing animation frames has been squashed.
The major thing that’s kept me from finishing is good, though. The business that I run, Cartoon Commune, has exploded since last December. I’ve been happily busy working on fun, well paying projects which not every freelancer is lucky enough to be able to say. I finally managed to get ahead enough that I could clear my schedule for a month, and the break in happened the same day.
There have been other things, but it’s been so long that there couldn’t not be. Long story short, the movie is animated, and it’s coming when it’s ready. But don’t hold your breath. I’ll let you know when it’s done.
And for my next movie…. puppets.
